We are happy to announce we are going to have an "addition" to our family.
After news of many losses in families we know lately, we are thankful to God for this blessing and pray for a healthy baby in February 2013!

Also showing off my Dutch heritage with my new blog page background. :)

Well, it's been busy over here these past 2 months...here are some pictures to help catch you up:

The boys were introduced to "Dough Boys" ...thanks to Daddy. They LOVE them! We got Todd a portable fire-pit for Father's Day...so that is what we use in the back yard.

The boys also LOVE watermelon. It's common for them and Daddy to sit out on the deck and eat watermelon as a bed-time snack. "June" also has to get in on the action. She gets the rinds. :)

I have been somewhat busy trying some new recipes:
These are called Avalanche Bars...found that on Pinterest. Very easy & GOOD!

This one is called Pepperoni Loaf. Got this recipe from a friend from church who made this as a "bloomin' onion" loaf.

We took the boys fishing a little while ago. Friends from church have a "lake" behind their house that has good fishing in it for kids....throw in your line and reel in a fish! They have 4 boys...add our 2, plus 2 dads...there were alot of guys fishing that night! The moms just sat and laughed at all the boys!

I have been somewhat busy with some "crafts" also.
I repainted and recovered this bench. Got it for free from our rental house. Free is always good!
I have a friend that I volunteer with who LOVES cookies. I occasionally bring her baked cookies when we work together. But for her birthday I thought I'd bring her cookies that would never go bad. I crocheted her a COOKIE SCARF. :) Not perfect by any means, but thought that counts. Stupid picture of me, but it shows what it looks like on at least. (They are: Chocolate chip, Iced sugar cookies with sprinkles on top, Oreo cookies, Swirl cookies & Chocolate chip raisin cookies) :)

Also have repainted our changing table from white to black. BIG mistake. I hate painting anything that requires more than 1 coat. This took like 4. I made it with 2 -1/2 :) No picture of that right now. It's drying in the basement.

I just finished canning the BUSHEL of tomatoes I had from various family members and the guy I go to market for. I made:
Spaghetti Sauce
Pizza Sauce
Salsa

I am tomato-ed out for the season! And maybe next year too!!! What a lot of work, but I love seeing the finished jars on the shelf! A sense of accomplishment I guess! And they look so pretty! :)

I think that's all the "news we  have for now". Hope all 5 of my blog readers are doing well. :) ha ha

September/October's happenings

Well...things have been somewhat busy here......

September:
~~Chase started Young Fives...he loves it. He is learning so much, it's amazing. He told us the Pledge of Allegiance the other day. :) He's not super forth-coming with what he learned at school, but as the day goes on, we learn new information. He's a boy :)

October:
~~Well, we're not even through October and we've had our days filled. Todd just got back from an 8 day hunt to Colorado with his Dad, brother Brian and cousin Kevin. We are glad to have him back here at home with us. :) They came home with 1 elk...not 100% certain if it's Todd's or Kevin's, and most everyone put in the miles....so, needless to say, the meat's getting split 4 ways. So it goes with hunting. (See picture below)
~~The boys have been having tons of fun watching the excavators put in our new neighbors' drain field behind our house. (See pictures below of their "fun")
~~I have been slowly getting the baby's room ready for our 3rd BOY (yes, 3rd boy) to arrive in February. - I will post pictures later.....the room has been painted for quite some time, but I have been slowly plugging away at a few sewing projects, etc. for the room.
~~I also have picked up some more crochet projects, now that it is colder out and Todd was gone, what else shall I do with my time? Clean my house....nah.  :)  (See pictures below of the latest projects)

Todd in Colorado. The elk got stuck in a tree.

The Angry Birds hat I crocheted for Chase.

The boys mud run behind our house.

Chase got into it a little bit more than Karston did. :)

Ignore my ugly self-portraits. Here is a hat I made for myself. You can find the pattern here:
 http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/big-girl-bonnet
I did alter the pattern a little bit, but for the most part, kept it as is.
I added my own feathered clip on the side to add a little flair.

Also, made the baby a brimmed hat. It's brown flecked...my webcam does a horrible job of pictures, but I didn't feel like getting my camera out and going through the whole process of putting them on the computer right now. :)
You can find this pattern at:
 http://owlishly.typepad.com/owlishly/osito-infant-hat.html
I did not add the EARS, but added my own brim instead.
This pattern says 0-6mo., but I matched it up to a hat Karston, my 2nd son wore as a newborn and I would say this is more like a NB-3mo. sized hat.
Well, that's all for now.

It's December already!!!!!

Our family:

Well, it is December already! Where has the time gone? December is a busy month for us. December 5th, Todd and I celebrated our 9 year anniversary! We made our annual Anniversary dinner outing to the Brown Bear in Shelby. A nice evening out, and plenty of travel time to TALK. (Something we rarely get to do in the car without many interruptions by the boys) :)

Here are the boys, ready for church. So handsome.

Here are the boys with their gingerbread houses. They are also so proud of their new Christmas pj's.

Two weeks ago on Saturday we finally got the bunk beds finished and put together in the boys' room. They think it's the greatest. Who wouldn't? I always wanted a bunk bed when I was younger! :) Karston has already mastered the ladder...scary, I know.

On to Pinterest ideas I have put into action:

This idea I thought was perfect for our house. We have no fireplace/mantle to hang our stockings. I usually hang them up on our banister headed downstairs, but I like this idea better. I had this coat rack in my salon, but did something different there now, so 6 new hooks later....wall-ah...our stocking hanger!

I had been stashing this Pin away for quite some time for the boys. I liked the idea, but not the idea of buying 25 new books. (They're expensive!) But, my Oma (Grandma) just so happened to give me some books and I had a few used books I had picked up.....So, I wrapped them all up in newspaper/ads, printed out the #'s 1-25 and taped those, 1 to each book. So, each night before bed the boys get to unwrap 1 new book then we sit on the couch and read it. Chase LOVES books. You should see his bookshelf. I cannot even count how many books he has....and whenever we go through them to weed some out and get rid of them, there are hardly none to get rid of. We actually read almost all of them. (or he does himself) Hopefully he enjoys reading for years to come!
(If you read my sister-in-law's blog, she did something similar....great minds think alike!)

I also had a pin saved for this, but did see something similar at a craft show I recently went to. Pretty self-explanatory....lights in a wine bottle. (I should have moved the cord before I took the picture though) :) oops. At the craft show, they had drilled a hole in the bottom back of the bottle for the cord, but Todd wasn't sure he had the right tools for that job and I didn't want to risk him trying and breaking the bottle after the time I went through to clean the labels off the bottles. :)

The boys and I made these cookies tonight while Todd was out. It keeps them busy for a few minutes. :) They are called......Brown Sugar Cookies w/ Maple Icing. Something different for a change. I do love chocolate though. :)

Crochet:

I came across this awesome baby bootie pattern. Obviously I don't have girls, so I have to make some cute and girly stuff for other people. Our new neighbors just had a girl the 12th of November, so I made these for her. I am working on a boy pair (for baby) in brown-multi and will post a pic. of that soon.

Then I also have made now 2 wine bottle cozies. Both I am giving away as Christmas gifts. I am not totally thrilled with the finish product...it needs a little tweaking. :)

Well, I think that's all the "news" here in pictures for a while. Hope everyone has a great Christmas!!!!

Happy 2013 to all! It's a new year already!

The boys found their pillow cases while I was changing their sheets the other day. It obviously turned into sack races around the house. If only I would think of these things!

Todd's latest cake creation with the boys. It's CLIFFORD, the Big Red Dog. He's MUCH more creative than me!!!!

Hide N Seek with Daddy. Daddy sure can squeeze into the weirdest places. Here's Todd and Karston in the hamper cupboard.
 And Chase in the dryer.

Karston and Great Grandma B at Christmas time.
It's so nice she can join us for our annual Christmas day get-together.

CROCHET HAPPENINGS:
A hat I made a friend's 9 month old daughter. Each flower has a hole in the center so you can remove the flower and change it easily...just put it on the button.

 I made 2 cowl scarves.

And 1 set of boot cuffs.

Then 1 set of boot cuffs and a headband for my 2 year old niece, Lydia.

A water bottle carrier/cozy for Chase's school teacher.

And last, but not least....a Superman hat for my brother. :) He may only wear it in the privacy of his own closed garage, but oh well.....fun to make. :)

BABY # 3's ROOM......DONE!!!
Due Feb. 11 with boy #3 (hopefully sooner!!)

Here's my attempt at homemade wall art. I still need to finish the middle frame, that's why there's blue tape on the bottom of it. :)

I had wanted to do a striped wall for a long time and had pinned so many ideas on Pinterest.
It was a bit of work, but I am happy with how it looks. Also I made the crib skirt (nothing fancy) and recovered the bench cushion in our hang-out window. And recovered the pillows. (I think ALL of the pillows in my house have been recovered at least once) :)

The Changing table I painted black late this Summer. It turned out okay. The paint I used must not have been a good fit for the item I painted b/c it is still tacky. (UGH!)
Tree metal wall art I got at Hobby Lobby with a Christmas gift card. Love that store!!!

Baby's "closet" is a re-purposed tv cabinet. We had this in our living room for a couple years. I found a new/used one, so this is now a closet. I had Todd put in a closet rod and "wal-ah" instant closet. (The baby's room is where our office used to be, so it has no closet)
And I also recovered this Poang chair from Ikea....3rd time I've recovered it. :)
And recovered this pillow as well.

Found this idea on Pinterest. A swaddle blanket for the car seat. 2 yards of fabric...1 yard of flannel and 1 yard of fleece. I would have picked cuter fabric, but I wanted to keep it on the cheap. Cost me less than $10 to make. We'll see how it works out when baby comes.

Last Pinterest project. Ever seen the "Pee Pee TeePee's" sold in stores? I always thought they were hilarious....we just always covered the boys with a washcloth so they wouldn't pee on us during diaper changes.....BUT I came across this on Pinterest....AND it is our 3rd boy, so you gotta do something fun and different. :) This lady called her version of it a "Wee Wee WigWam."
We'll see how these work when baby comes too. We may end up resorting back to the ol' "hanky" if these don't pan out. :)

Well, I think that's all for now. (17 pictures later) :) Enjoy your new year!!!
Probably the next time I post it will be to announce our new arrival!

PS> Who doesn't like jelly beans!??!?  :) lol

Wow...it has been since February! I barely remembered my password to get in here. :) lol
It just goes to prove how busy we have been. 3 busy little boys over here. :) Chase is 5 - 1/2, Karston 3 - 1/2 and Hoyt is almost 6 months! Where has the time gone? The boys have been busy with swimming lessons, we went on a week vacation, horse shows here and there. The boys have also been busy riding their bikes in the driveway and playing with waterguns. :)
I, on the otherhand, have been busy trying to maintain the house...ha ha....canning beans, picking blueberries, keeping up with the boys, and trying to manage to fit in some time in with my horse, "Torin". Even if he's naughty, it's still relaxing to be in the barn......it's so quiet. :)
Todd has also been busy with this, that and the other thing. Church deacon/treasurer duties, working and trying to maintain the house as well...lawn, garden, weeds!
Well, that is all for now....

August 1st............
5 years ago today our precious niece, Grace went to be with our Lord and Savior. As Aunt and Uncle, our lives are forever changed, how much more for her Mom and Dad! She is truly missed, but because of our great Savior we WILL see her again.
Do you have that assurance?

Please say an extra prayer for Brian and Kathy today. The Lord has brought them through a great trial and much grief, but the Lord always promises to be with us and never leave us!

"...and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:2

Wow...so, 6-1/2 months later....we're still here! Oops. I guess that's what happens when life gets too busy. Sorry to my 3 blog readers...lol. I will try to keep up on here from now on, thanks to spurrings from my sister-in-law Kathy. :) (HI!)

Well.....the boys are growing like WEEDS!!!
Chase is in Kindergarten 3 days a week, and is already asking when he can go every day. :)
Karston is enrolled in preschool for this Fall and
Hoyt just had his FIRST birthday! Where has the time gone!?!??!?!

I will post pictures soon!!
Check back for some drastic changes to the look of my blog!!!
I just figured out how to link my post updates to FB. :) YAY. lol

2014 Blog Update

There you have it folks....my blog is fresh and new...and for those of you who have seen my labeled shelves at home, my blog is organized (for the most part).
This picture is already 6 months old, but I just love it. My 3 little men. :)

My little guy turned ONE already (Feb. 8)...I can't believe it. He is the happiest little man with tons of personality. And boy is he ever smart. :) I don't know where that comes from....lol.

I hope everyone is staying warm...I am READY for Spring! Our house is set at 69 degrees, but I am still cold! I am ready for the snow to leave!!!!!

Keeping things "real" as a Mom..........

Well...another week is upon us....I'm still keeping up on my blog! And it's STILL snowing! Some day we will see green grass again. I don't think I'm going to complain one bit about it being too hot this summer! (we will see...lol)

As for my post title, I like to think of myself as "real"....not glamming everything up to make it sound like everything is honky-dory over here ALL THE TIME! I find that on some blogs I've read...it just seems all too fake or made-up when EVERY day is wonderful, EVERY craft is perfect, EVERY meal is homemade - from scratch and healthy (though they only eat a crouton per meal), EVERY day the house is spotless and decorated like Pottery Barn, EVERY outfit is completely coordinating, and EVERY day they run 5 miles to continue to keep the body of Jillian Michaels.

Nope, not me...I'll admit to you right now that EVERY day is not all flowers and roses over here....there's kids hollering and crying, EVERY craft...well, what crafts?, EVERY meal is not homemade...that's why they invented frozen pizza!, EVERY day, my house is not spotless - not even close! and it does not look like Pottery Barn, and EVERY day, my clothes do not coordinate...what's wrong with wearing a t-shirt I wore in high school? (14 years ago...lol), and EVERY year I don't even run 5 miles. (although this year I will...running my first 5k...what was I thinking?), but I know for sure I don't have Jillian's body...I'd have to go to Jillian's bootcamp and eat 1 crouton a week to look like that.

So, here's more truth

Tuesdays are a tough day for me....it used to be Mondays, now with Chase's school schedule, it has changed to Tuesdays. :) My boys do not know how to get along some days. If I'm in 1 room for a minute...I hear fighting in the other room. I am a referee from morning 'til evening until Todd gets home from work.

(Have I mentioned how great he is? If not...he's the best husband/dad a girl could ask for and more! He puts up with me, that's saying a lot!!)
I'm thinking maybe them sharing a room isn't a great idea anymore.
I actually had them sit in a chair and hug each other for a few minutes. What a great punishment! You should have seen their faces! I took a picture of them...it was hilarious. But, it worked too!

I love my boys dearly, and I know it's normal for kids to not get along, but there are days when I could really pull my hair out. (bad idea for a hairdresser)
I thought this picture I found on Google summed it up pretty good.....lol

Anyways...God has TRULY, abundantly blessed me with 3 very healthy and happy boys. So they have an UNIMAGINABLE amount of energy (thanks to my husband, Todd), but they ARE healthy and they will grow up sooner or later and be too big to sit and read on the couch with. Or actually even want their Mom to be around. :)

Numbers 14:18a SAYS:  "The Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion."

I have to keep reminding myself that THE LORD is so patient with me. I, as a sinful adult, act like a child to Him, my eternal Father. And yet, he remains patient with me and forgives all of my sins. What a great feeling to know that I have a Father in Heaven who cares so much for me, one of His own! Now if only I could perfectly model and reflect that to my own children! It's something to strive for, though I know I will never get it close to perfect.

I also am reminded that so many have it so much worse than I do. Just look at the few prayer requests I have listed here on my blog. Some people have been faced with much bigger trials that me and my silly old lack of patience at times.

Forgive me if I seem to be jumping around here....:)

I also believe that we as "REAL MOMS" need to stick together. Those "Super-mom blogs" I should probably just stay away from, b/c all I do is brum and covet. :) When I just stick to thinking about my own house, it looks pretty good to me. :)
I do just have to say, I have a great group of "REAL" girlfriends! (You know who you are, ladies!) Sometimes you just need to vent about pee on the carpet or spit-up in your hair. Good to know you're not alone in this Mom stuff!

I could go on and on, but then, when would the house get cleaned? HA.

Being a Stay-at-Home-Mom is not for sissies..........keep it "real"!

Thankful

Today I am extra thankful for my health, and for the rest of my family. What a blessing to have healthy kids!
We have had the stomach flu bug over here. Not fun. Moms are not supposed to get sick! Thankfully my boys don't "mind" watching cartoons while Mom is couch-bound. :) 3 of the 5 of us have been sick, praying the remaining 2 stay healthy.
Hope everyone is enjoying the SUNSHINE! I will get a regular post on here after we're over our sickness. :)

It's a new day.......

Well, here I am, a few days later than I said I would be. :) It's a new day, and yet, I'm STILL tired. I think I need some Spring sunshine and temp's to get me out of this slump!

Anyways...what's new here...hmmm. Well, the boys are busy as usual, that is nothing new.

I have not made any new crafts lately, unless you call folding socks a "craft"...lol. Actually, I take that back...I have gotten into a little bit of jewelry making. I will post pictures in a while, when I have a little better handle on things. So far it's fun though. Main problem: finding the time. When can I get out little things without little FINGERS wanting to help? That's a rare moment!

Just a quick "Mom" comment for all you ladies out there:
Do any of you feel like being a stay-at-home-mom is like being a hamster on a wheel?

There are days I don't know where to begin...didn't I JUST wipe all those counters, vacuum/sweep those floors, dust that shelf, clean that toilet, wash that pile of dishes or fold that mountain of laundry?
I know, I know, someday it will end. And "they" say that I'll miss it. Will I? I'm not so sure.
However, lately I've been feeling like satan is trying to work in me the sin of selfishness. Sometimes I think to myself...when do I get ME time? When is there time for me to have to MYSELF without disruption and that I can do whatever I want? Notice all the ME's and I's in those sentences.

Type in Google...Bible verses on selfishness. There's no SHORTAGE of verses on this topic. One that really struck me was the following verses:  (not sure what version this is from)

Philippians 2:1-4
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

Talk about a bop on the head.

Time to give of my time and think less of myself. Think more of others and less of ME. If we stop and think what Christ did for us, he definitely UNSELFISHLY gave of HIMSELF when he bore OUR sins and suffered and died on the cross. How grateful I am that God is not selfish the way we sinners are!

Okay, so that "quick" comment turned into more, sorry. :)

Anyways...I hope all of you are having a great day!

It's 4am

MIGRAINES:
Before: "Aura" - seeing spots, blurry vision, feeling 75% there

During: Screwdriver in the temple, nail through the eyeball, (and don't think about bending over, b/c then those pains pulsate) wanting to peel my eyebrow off, upset stomach, restlessness (obviously, b/c it's 4am), neck and shoulder tension, needing sunglasses on a cloudy day (and yes, I have my computer set to the dimmest setting right now...it's like typing in the dark...lol)

After: (up to 2 days worth after a good one) Muscle weakness, tired

Ok, Sarah, WHERE are you going with this.....above are just some of the symptoms of MY migraines...everyone's symptoms are different.

During the pain, that is pretty much all you think about is that screwdriver twisting. Just beat me over the head now! Not to mention, I can't just take a nap...I have 3 boys that need a Mom, so you drag yourself through the day. I'm not saying much gets done around the house, but....

But then, as I'm laying in bed, mentally complaining to myself, my mind goes to Jesus and HIS suffering on the cross. Especially as we draw closer to this Easter "season", I can't help but think...Jesus died on the cross for ME, endured suffering for ME, had nails pierced through His hands and feet for ME. Suddenly, my brief bout with pain doesn't seem so bad anymore. Do we read anywhere in the Bible of Jesus complaining about His situation? Nope. Even while Jesus hung on the cross in agony, He was still thinking of others, as the thief on the cross showed repentance.

James 1:2-3...the NIV entitles this section as "Trials and Temptations"

2 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."

I'm not sure I "count it all joy" when I have pain, but it puts a new perspective on thing, doesn't it?

And oh how I love to sing "UP FROM THE GRAVE HE AROSE" (Title is "Lo in the Grave He Lay" I think) on Easter/Resurrection Sunday. That has to be my favorite Easter song....along with "HE LIVES". Something about those songs when you can hear every member there really belt those songs out! And when the pastor reads,
Matthew 28:6
"He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay."

He has risen, He is risen indeed!!!!

**Speaking of Easter, does anyone else remember as a kid, blowing their brains out trying to get the egg yolk out of the egg to have a hollow egg to decorate? And using those little boxes of "Paas" egg kits? Yep, they still sell those too. :)

**On a completely different note: Todd and had a I date night last night, or yesterday...whatever it is...it's 4am, I don't know! And yes, it was a Monday date, but hey, it works! For those of you with kids...make it a priority to do that every once in a while. That was long overdue! It's so weird to be able to TALK in the car without constant interruption, being able to eat without having to keep food in front of the little guys and being able to hold hands without a little hand wiggling their way in between for some attention. :) Not that I entirely mind all of that, but you do need some time alone together. So, for those of you with kids, make it a point to get out alone sometime...it's definitely refreshing!

I think that's all I've got for now, plus my migraine is down to a dull pain, so maybe I can go back to bed. :)

Good night...or good morning, whatever you want to call it.

Just a few things...

Anyone else ready for summer? It is SNOWING here....yes, the grass is covered with snow and it is APRIL 14! I think that is why so many people are sick lately. We have all had colds over here, fun stuff.

With that being said...I stayed home from church in the morning with little guy b/c he coughed 1/2 the night, no nursery for him! I miss going to church, however, there are some good sermons online as well. Here are a few things I picked up while listening and entertaining Hoyt at the same time:

The heavens declare the glory of God....if we had no Bibles and no one to preach, the HEAVENS and everything around us would STILL show the glory of God. (Isn't that amazing?)

When God saved me...He had already considered my past, my present and my future.
(Kind of puts a new spin on things doesn't it? God is so patient with us sinners. We time and time again continue to sin against God, and yet, He STILL sent His Son to die on the cross for us!)

That's it for my sermon notes today. :) I really need to get going on pictures on here...kind of behind on that! Hoyt is taking off walking too!

Our FAMILY......

FOLLOWING IS A LETTER WE DISTRIBUTED TO IMMEDIATE FAMILY AND CLOSE FRIENDS THIS PAST EASTER WEEKEND:

April 20, 2014

Dear Friends and Family;

We have some exciting news to share with you!
After much prayer, reading, research, seeking advice, countless hours online, late night talks, time and deliberation, we have decided to pursue the avenue of adoption to expand our family!

If any of you have known me (Sarah) this long, I have been talking about adopting since at least 8th grade! (That’s 16 years ago!) Our adoption journey will not happen overnight as it is a long and costly process. Therefore, we covet your prayers as we begin the road we feel God has called us to travel and we will see where HE leads! Proverbs 16:9 ESV ”The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”

**Specific ways you can pray for us:
-Pray for clarity in the way God wants us to go, in every decision we make. Please pray that the doors in front of us will be clearly opened or closed!

-Pray that we would not have any major expenses occur in the near future to take away from our saving for the adoption. (Car repairs, major appliances, medical expenses, etc.)

-Pray that the Lord prepares us and our boys to welcome a new member to our family

-Pray for patience (always a hard one!) As the song goes, “God makes all things beautiful, IN HIS TIME.”

-Pray especially for the little one God has already chosen to be part of our family. Just as I physically carried our 3 boys, we prayed for health, full development and that ultimately they would live for Jesus. Jeremiah 1:5 ESV “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” Pray also for his/her Mom and Dad and extended family as well, that they would have peace in their adoption decision and that they would know the Lord as their personal Savior.

-Pray that those who review grant requests would look at our family favorably.

**More details regarding our adoption plans:
-We do know that we would like to keep our children in birth order, so this newest addition to the Busscher clan will more than likely be under the age of 2 at the time of joining our family, possibly even as an infant.

-This is a lengthy process start to finish! We have begun working with a local Christian Social Worker named Char. We hope to begin our Home Study with her shortly.

-At this point, we are tentatively heading toward adopting an infant Marshallese child. (From the Marshall Islands) Things could change between now and then, as with many things in adoption.
Our ultimate prayer is that through our adoption, God’s glory will shine through and be made known! Pray that we will trust and obey HIS leading every step of the way, from the time you get this letter until we bring our child home, may we live in obedience to Him. If you have any questions/comments, we would love to hear from you!
(Feel free to contact us by phone or by email: theblueraven78@yahoo.com)

Thank you for your loving support!!!
Love,
Todd & Sarah, Chase, Karston & Hoyt Busscher

So, people have been asking (and rightly so) what brought us to adopt?

Well...multiple reasons....
1) Since at least 8th grade (1998...whoa!), if not before, I have always wanted to adopt. Was it just something I wanted to do, or God putting that on my heart that long ago? I couldn't tell you.
2) God has blessed us so richly with more than we could ask or imagine, why would we not share our blessings with someone who has less? A lot of birth-families give up their child, not because they don't want them, but because they feel another family can give them more than what they can. Now, I'm not saying we're rich $...I'm just saying that God has truly blessed us with everything we need. Food, clothes, a home, cars, health, etc. How can we not share that?
3) I have struggled with migraines on and off since high school. Physically I don't feel like I could go through another pregnancy and be a good mom while dealing with constant migraines. They tend to act up more when I am pregnant.
4) There are so many children out there that need families. This mother chose LIFE for the baby she is carrying! Most of all, we feel that God has called us to welcome a child who needs a family, into ours. And maybe this child would not have been introduced/known the Lord without being a part of our family. God works ALL things for HIS good!
So, we continue to ask for you prayers in this journey. (I kind of hate that word, but not sure "adventure" is really the right word either) lol
Even though we feel God has called us to undertake this task, it does not mean it's going to be smooth sailing or easy. So please pray!

As you have read in our adoption letter. Our hope (the Lord willing) is to adopt a Marshalleese infant. People from the Marshall Islands come to the states to find work, etc. Arkansas, Hawaii and Oklahoma are 3 states that our social worker has worked with in adopting these infants. The Marshall Islands is between Hawaii and the Philippines. (loosely put...see the map)

So, more than likely the ethnicity of our child will be a blend between Hawaiian and Philippino.
The more I think about it, the more excited I get. Even though I am not physically carrying our future baby, someone right now, could possibly be carrying our baby! I can't wait to meet baby!!!!

Here are a few links to more information regarding the Marshall Islands and the Marshallese people.

We are new to this whole adoption thing, just as many of our friends/family are now that we are in the process. I have come across a few posts regarding this...found them interesting....makes me think of the dumb things I've said/done before I knew...................
